Universal Life Church
Unreasonable Mercy
By Scott Phillips

God Bless you in his purpose this weekend!
Unreasonable Mercy

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they bered like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18

To consider a loaf of bread for one dollar or a gallon of gas for one dollar or a glass of drink for one dollar, these are reasonable offers. Without a doubt, from our experience many of the everyday necessities it seems that our threshold of acceptability is pressedin what we are willing to pay for what we need to have.

However, what is reasonable about Mercy? Is it reasonable that a harlot would find purity at the place of repentance? Is it reasonable that a liar could find truth? Is it reasonable that a sinner could find righteousness?

There is not reason, nor rhyme to the contemplation of complete freedom from a past of prejudice, pride and poor choices. However this is the conclusion that Christ offers to those that will find repentance. Repentance is the key to complete deliverance.Repentance is the Key to complete reconciliation. Repentance, true repentance can truly take the scales and schedules of justice and throw them out the window.

I am thankful for God's unreasonable ways. Truly we can find grace for our need. The verdict is in, we can find strength for our weakness in this unjust exchange the Lord of Glory provides.

Quit scheming your excuse and sit down and let the spirit of his Goodness saturate your soul. Catch a glimpse of his Mercy and taste of his Grace. Even as it was done to the prophet, God will take a holy coal and cleanse your grimy soul and make it clean and right.

Consider Solomon and the mercy of God. God chose a man born froma union that began in sin. God chose him to not only be used, not only to be king, but chose him to be the wisest, wealthiest and most prosperous man to ever live. Your beginning does not determine your destiny.

Consider Sampson. A man who never did right, God still gave him one last chance to make things right. Your mistakes does not doom your calling.

In considering the scripture above, it struck me that there is nothing reasonable about God's mercy.

Looking for another to partake in the best exchange available to mankind!

In Him, By Him, Through Him,

Scott Phillips.
