Sermons are quite closely related to lesson plans. There are many formats and you should choose the one that is comfortable to you.When writing a sermon you should:
Define your objective.
Define the time that you expect to deliver your sermon.
Determine and explore any prerequisites necessary to complete the objective.
Explore the subject of your sermon with your congregation. Provide examples and personal experiences.
Expand on your subject. Give 'homework' to aid the parishoners in practicing the subject of the sermon.
Following the sermon, critique yourself. Did you meet your objectives? Were you successful in presenting the material?Remember, no two ministers have the same style for preparation and delivery. What works for me may not work for you. There is no right or wrong.
